We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Heng Cai has been selected as one of the seven Early-Career Research Fellows for the 2024-2026 cohort in Human Health and Community Resilience. This prestigious fellowship is awarded by the Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The Early-Career Research Fellowship supports emerging scientific leaders by enabling them to pursue innovative research ideas, forge unique collaborations, and build a network of colleagues dedicated to advancing the safety of offshore energy systems and improving the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems.

During the fellowship, Dr. Cai will focus on resilience-based interventions, investigating the root causes of climate, disaster, and health vulnerabilities stemming from social disparities in Gulf Coast communities. This work will address critical challenges and contribute to long-term solutions for enhancing resilience in this region.

Congratulations to Dr. Heng Cai on this remarkable achievement!
