The CAI Lab demonstrated a strong presence at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Geographers (AAG) in San Francisco, contributing through session organization, research presentations, and academic engagement.
Lab members played key roles in organizing multiple sessions:
GISER Symposium: Sensing Urban Human Dynamics Through Multi-Source Insights (Part I & II) (Organizers: Hao Tian, Dr. Heng Cai, Siqi Zhou)
GISER Symposium: Human-Environment Interactions in Digital Twin and 3D Urban Space (Organizers: Palash Chandra Das)
GISER Symposium: Human-centered Assessments of Disaster Risk and Resilience (Organizer: Dr. Heng Cai)
GISER Symposium: Human Networks and Data Science (Panel) (Organizers: Dr. Heng Cai, Hao Tian)
In addition to session organization, lab members presented several research papers, including:
Leveraging Deep Learning and Distributed Acoustic Sensing for Real-Time Traffic Monitoring (Hao Tian)
Assessing Dynamic Heat Exposure Using Cellphone Location Data–Derived Population (Palash Chandra Das)
A Comparative Study of Human Responses to Heat Extremes Across Different Climate Zones (Siqi Zhou)
Dr. Heng Cai also served as a discussant in a plenary session on Big Data and GIS in Tourism Geography, contributing to interdisciplinary discussions on data-driven geographic research.
These activities highlight the lab’s active engagement in advancing GIScience, cyberinfrastructure, and human–environment interaction research.
We congratulate all lab members on their outstanding contributions and successful participation at AAG 2026.
